Another energy-efficient house adds to the list of eco-friendly houses. An impressive four-bedroom house with a range of environmentally friendly features is set to construction by Pat Wilkinson, a green builder.
Though still a month to go, the project has already taken shape. The walls of the house are made of bricks true, but these are the recycled ones. The roof features second-hand tiles, embedded with large solar panels to power the house. There is a 2.8kilowatt photovoltaic array for heating water.
To reduce flammability and provide insulation to the airtight construction recycled newspapers are used, which are treated with boron salts and gypsum. There is also a heat recovery ventilation system (HRVS) to preserve the warmth inside.
Pat did not also ignore the chilling winters for going eco-friendly. The house is provided with a back-up mains supply and a wood-burning stove to fight the low temperatures. A tank to collect rainwater is also built. An ultraviolet filter and three other filters are to recycle this rainwater for use.
