Arkema has developed a new grade of plastic from renewable raw material — castor seeds! The new grade of this bio-plastic — Rilsan PA 11 — has been approved for use in bio-diesel-carrying fuel lines. A number of automotive contractors in Europe and Brazil seem to be happy with the new product.
Named M-BESN Noir P210TL, the new material has been developed for use with biodiesel. Bio-diesel, specifically, is much more aggressive compared to the traditional crude oil-based fuels.
The castor seed-produced polymer has all the inherent properties of PA 11, which eventually ensures superior performance to PA12, according to Arkema.
