With every drop of water that we use, we are wasting hundreds of drops that come along with it. Be it while showering or washing the utensils in the kitchen, it gets difficult to regulate the flow of water to avoid wastage. And so recycling the used water seems to be an appropriate answer to conserve water. The award-winning Eulo Grey Water Recycling Sink designed by Ainslie Asher from Australia is not just a concept on paper but a working prototype. Sticking to the basic principles of saving water, it makes use of a strainer to block the solid particles. That done, the filtered water is passed through a gravity-activated carbon filter. and lastly ultraviolet light is used to destroy the germs and bacteria.

This filtered water is (again) sent to the dishwasher and after it’s used to clean the dishes, it is flushed out to water your greens. Moreover, the system also includes an option for adding dishwashing detergent inline. The specially designed three-way-valve allows the water to either cycle, be reused in the garden or sent to regular drainage.

Since we need such water conserving sinks to save water for our future generations, we will have to pay a heavy price of $3,000 for the Eulo Grey Water Recycling Sink.

sadly everything good comes at a hefty price...if only the makers could lower it to a more affordable tone, many more could benefit from such eco-friendly products.
This is such a simple and effective way to recycle water but you are right Radhika, things like this should not so expensive. In fact this and other water saving devices for basin, bathrooms etc should be made compulsory in new houses.
@ Deepa ”With every drop of water that we use, we are wasting hundreds of drops that come along with it!” - very well written
Radhika and Manish, such a kind of eco sink is expensive cause its still novel and unseen. Once such eco-products hit the market and become commonly available, we can hope to find many affordable versions too.
Yes, you are right. Eco-consciousness is still uncommon and people still don’t understand the need for these kind of products. Once the market is created, more products will be launched and prices will come down.
