This is no run-of-the-mill designer bench. With this new BioTube Bench, the designer has gone a step further with it being called environment-friendly. It is not made of any recycled material, but is biodegradable. . Hats off to Julian Lwin. The Brooklyn based designer has intellectually merged design with responsibility towards the environment.
The new ‘Ephemeral BioTube Bench’ is made of recycled cardboard cylinders. And the cylinders are embedded with seeds using a cellulose liquid. Thus, when exposed to moisture, rain and light, they biodegrade to form a rich mulch layer. This in turn becomes furtile transforming into a garden instantly.
Not just grasses, you can also seed herbs, wildflowers or other seedlings in it.
