With plastic being touted as one of the most threatening menace that doesn’t have many tangible solutions, Trex have scored very well with their 100% eco-friendly decking for your backyards. Who doesn’t like spending time al fresco in summers? Since most of our life’s best moments happen right in our backyards, Trex has come up with an alternative for all wood deck for eco buffs. Made of 50 percent recycled and reclaimed plastic, and 50 percent reclaimed wood, the company is saving our planet by keeping 300,000 tons of plastic and wood scrap out of landfills every year. And its not only the product that is uber green but the whole process that goes into making it is absolutely eco-friendly. The trailers are powered with vegetable-based oil and also the factory runoff is recycled back into the manufacturing process.

And not to forget the fact that the product is smoother than wood, splinter-free, soft and provides excellent traction. Since a wide range of colors, curves and patterns are offered, green decking will no more be dull and drab.

How cool is this! Making deck out of reclaimed plastic and reclaimed wood and helping keep 300,000 tons of plastic and wood out of landfills every year... nice!
You bet, after all the conversations stirred up for the plastic menace.....this seems to be a fine application of recycled and reclaimed plastic.
Actually making a marketable product like this with recycled material is smart thinking with lots of courage to take risk... Fantastic isn’t it!
Why ’lots of courage to risk’?
Its much easier to sell products that can be marketed as ”made out of best wood” or ”made out of best plastic” ... the term re-cycled does add a question about quality, which needs to be taken care of while making the product and also while selling it.. of course eco-friendly people would love this option against new wood / plastic, but for mass market, it would need lots of effort and convincing... unless I am wrong and its the other way around :)
