Are you aware of the enormous amounts of kinetic energy lost everyday that could have been used otherwise? Do you realize that, at the current power-consumption levels, all batteries in the world together are not enough to run the modern electric and electromechanical toys, even for a single week? Indeed, it’s high time we started using toys and gadgets that can save power and energy.
Chris Clemmer, an expert designer, has done precisely that. A parent himself, Clemmer, together with his colleagues, has come up with several unique toys that would enable even a kid to start making use of kinetic energy that would otherwise have been wasted. In fact, these innovative energy-saving toys get charged even when the kids are playing with them!
These ‘child-powered toys’ are made up of a mixture of reclaimed plastic and recycled wood. The push-and-pump action play mechanism of the toys supplies the necessary natural energy required for the lights and other electronic parts that are present in these playthings. The toys are also provided with characters wearing LED-lit hats, which can be plugged into garages and vehicles, in order to recharge the energy supply of these devices.
Ideally, these imaginatively-designed toys should also be provided with small capacitors, so that every unit of these unique playthings could store the gathered energy which, in turn, could be used for charging other equipment. The toys are paint-free too, ensuring no lead-usage either.
The self-powered, eco-friendly, energy-saving and paint-free toys are expected to be available at the upcoming Toy Fair in New York. The toys, apart from being fine playthings for kids, ensures that energy-saving, one of the most significant issues in the present world, becomes as easy as child’s play, literally!
