Eco Factor: Hybrid snowmobile generates solar energy for power.

Designers over at Diseno-Art are thinking of ways to make your ride on the snow luxurious and green at the same time by unveiling a design proposal for a two-person snowmobile dubbed i-Scoob. The vehicle consists of a hybrid drivetrain with an internal combustion engine supplemented by an electric motor setup.

The snowmobile can be run in a purely electric-mode over shorter distances. The onboard batteries can be charged in three different ways – by plugging it into a mains electricity socket, using the fold-out solar panels or using the engine as a generator to top up the batteries.

The rear of the vehicle is a secure heavy-duty cargo rack that can be used to transport supplies and equipment. The i-Scoob can also be sued to pull a trailer sled. The vehicle is equipped with a joystick that is used to control the acceleration, braking and steering function.

The central dash of the i-Scoob is a multifunction LCD unit which offers everything from drivetrain performance information and navigation, to settings for the radio and climate control.
