Harvesting green energy directly from solar rays using solar cells is increasingly emerging as a prime component of alternative energies. And raising the bar of convenience in optimizing it to be user friendly, PowerFilm is the first company to manufacture as well as sell flexible solar panels. Since flexible panels can be rolled up, it makes them easily portable and accessible. Via a roll-to-roll manufacturing process it is practical to roll out monolithically-integrated solar panels. Dr. Frank Jeffrey and Dr. Derrick Grimmer have invested 65 years of their expertise to give shape to company’s objective to target the building integrated solar power market and to continue to supply products for selected portable and remote solar power applications.
Roll-to-roll manufacturing decreases material handling costs, printed interconnects enable automated connection of individual cells, and the production of flexible solar panels requires as little as 1% of the amount of silicon used in rigid crystalline panels. In addition, the sunlight absorber layer is cadmium free (environmentally friendly), as well as a commercially viable, low cost technology. A single13 inch wide solar roll can supply 2,400 feet of solar panels.
Such an eco-friendly and space saving energy solution will cater to the portable gadgets market and motivate eco or non-eco folks to embark on a solar revolution.

Deepa, thanks for this update on Solar technology. I have somethings to share with you and other writers here at ecofriend.
I have been quite regular at ecofriend and the information I get here has been immensely useful.
I am close to some people who run a hospital for blind in rural area of Uttar Pradesh, where they have shortage of power and use Diesel generators. The cost of diesel power is quite high and recurring so they are planning to have Solar power instead. The cost of doing this would go over a Crore and the information available here at ecofriend has been useful while deciding about investment in the technology.
I am also associated with the largest PC maker of India and the posts related to e-dumping, green PC etc are shared with people there who are working on similar project.
I would like you to pass this message of mine to your CEO / bosses and let them know that you people are doing fantastic work here, which in my case has also quite USEFUL. Thanks!
Many thanks Manish for such appreciating words. They mean a lot to all of us at Ecofriend.
Its interesting to know that you are involved with eco projects. Even though not directly you do keep a tab on actual green happenings.
We hope to keep up to the green expectations of ardent readers like you.
Deepa, the good thing about ecofriend is I get information on various eco topics in one place, so it saves me time. And most of the times I read it here and it comes in mainline newspapers after couple of days. Good show!
Thanks again and we hope to serve the best for all eco folks like you.
