In order to provide a greener waste collection system for its residents, a fuel efficient and carbon saving electric bin lift is being trialled by Hull City Council.
This is a part of their drive to improve efficiency and environmental performance. Results of a five month pre-trial show improvements in carbon emissions, fuel efficiency and waste collection.
Hull City Council specialist engineering and corporate fleet manager Garry Middleton said:
“The trial proved the Isbjörn lift’s ability to meet with our key objectives: fast, efficient and quiet operations, with proven fuel savings potential at a level to offset the required capital investment, together with the minimisation of environmental damage through reduced carbon emissions.”
They operate at around 40 domestic RCVs so if this technology prves out to be effecient, significant amount of emission can be saved and now recycling can also be done without causing much pollution.
