This giant glowing flower lit the Clerkenwell Green of London up brilliantly for the first time. This is no simple light. It is highly-energy efficient, hence eco-friendly. It uses energy from the photovoltaic petals, whose cells are attached to it. It also takes power harvested by the spiral wind turbine that spins at its stem’s summit.



Called the London Oasis, this eco-sculpture is a 12-metre interactive structure, and will serve Londoners as a getaway from noise and pollution. All channeled into six ‘pods’, it surrounds visitors with cool, clean air, relaxing sounds and images.



This sustainable technology has a hydrogen fuel cell that powers its air-filtering and cooling mechanisms, along with an evening light show. It is not just that!



To add to the amazement, the clockwork flower also collects rainwater for irrigating a garden at its base. Not to mention, its transparent casing and information posters not only provide an insight into the inner workings, but also add beauty to the surrounding.
