Urban commuting across the world is turning out to be a bit of an adventure with each passing day. If you are not inclined to put such a positive spin on it then it is just an unavoidable nuisance that you are compelled to go through each day. Yet, city commuters seem to be uninspired to switch to easier ways of transport that can save them time, give them space and help them reduce their carbon footprint. While electric scooters and electric-engine-assisted bikes are available, they are not all that popular even with the growing congestion on urban streets. The reason could very well be a lack of proper availability of these vehicles.
The Matra MS1 is an electric bike that gives you the option of both going green and extending your lifespan not just by keeping you away from pollution but by giving you a workout each day. The Matra can work over a 60 mile range and can last a good 6 hours after a single charge. With regenerative disc brakes, full suspension, and an LCD screen complete with a magnetic security card to turn it on and off this bike should work well for urban commutes.
The problem, though, seems to be that most of the world is still deprived of such options, as they are available in very few countries. Also, the considerable high cost might discourage many from taking up an electric vehicle. The Matra will cost you around $5000, and it is an excellent buy at that price. It is still not available in the US market but hopefully it will cross the Atlantic soon enough.

Its funny, but even I don’t have an answer why I am not opting for an electric 2 wheeler to commute in city and still use my car...may be cause car is comfortably a/c and I don’t want to be out in this heat and dust?
Well, the simple answer I guess is ’laziness’. We just do not want to move out of our comfy zone and to be honest, i just also do not see such a good range of electric bikes or REVs yet but they will soon arrive and then it could get pretty interesting.
