LUCA is developing a new technology platform that will use microorganisms to reactivate or intensify the production of methane from finite fuels such as coal, shale or oil. And, BASF Venture Capital America, Inc. is providing $3 million for developing this project.
Anaerobic microorganisms metabolize oil, shale and coal within the earth into natural gas. And LUCA, classifying and studying this, describes these underground methane production sites as Geo-bioreactors.
The company is dreaming of developing such Geo-bioreactors into methane farms! That is interesting and amazing an environment-friendly concept.
