Pedal-power is really taking over modes of transportation apart from just that wonderful ride in the lake and that trip to the next block in your bicycle. It seems with each passing day, people are willing to give up their laziness for a little bit of green and some fun while commuting and visiting a new place or even across their own neighborhood. (Something I must take a lesson from but fail to do each time) This pedal-powered giant wheel is for the delight of visitors according to its designer and it is all about going green!
Anke Salomon has designed the new city bike which he named as The Public Bike system to cater the address of problems faced by tourist visiting Berlin. It allows tourists to tour the parks and other tourist destination. This innovative rental bike runs on two wheels which turn independent of each other though the seat holds the wheels in position and the bike is propelled forward by pedals which are used in straight movement. The handles aid in braking and steering and a personal touch has been added by the designer by providing space for luggage.

To be very honest, this is not the first time we have seen this design. But Solomon seems to have taken a bit further by adding the luggage space and if he can get a few of these out in to the city and can get the tourists to ride them then it would not only be good for the planet but also for the sake of a budding designer!

Wow! These are so awesome! I first thought that the passengers get rolled around inside these things :P. Really would like to try one of these out! Dont see how you can fit luggage in here though.
@ Nithya ”I first thought that the passengers get rolled around inside these things” LOL ... you mean like Zorbing :)
But tell me, why do you need this? why not simply rent out a bicycle to be green?
Yes, Zorbing is not what this is made for but that would be hell of a lot more fun. So why do we need this instead of a simple bicycle? Well, cos you will have something to put in the postcard from Berlin and like every other industry- a Promotion gig. Its all about packaging...
