Japan based Genepax seems to be doing a real good job with its water energy fuel cell prototype. Its Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) contains a chemical that can effectively convert water into hydrogen and oxygen through a chemical reaction. The company wisely states that they have a well known route to produce hydrogen from water to the MEA, without giving away any other information. The system comes to a high priced ¥2,000,000 or around $18,700 which does not include the car, but the company says that if it can get it into mass production that could be cut to ¥500,000 or just under $5,000. Thanks to these people, the concept of water-powered fuel vehicle has become a reality.

Oh no! This will give rise to more and more cars. That’s traffic congestion all over! Arrghh
Grace, It might result in traffic congestion but it might reduce air pollution... I hope alternative sources of energy such as these are utilized and made affordable and viable.. Depleting sources of oil and depleting ozone levels.. Something really must be done.. If technology was the cause of today’s ecological woes, then technology has a responsibility to find solutions...
Unfortunately there is no putting stop to traffic congestion, but if more number of environment friendly vehicles hit the road then at least problems caused by air pollution will decline.
Contraception should help.
;)
Traffic congestion can be controlled but its the environmental benefit these eco friendly cars bring that make them an attractive option.
True. They can be controlled to a great extent. In fact a lot of measures are taken even now, but still we continue to face these problems don’t we?
This tiny car is good for driving in city only. One can keep this to for driving with in city only. But There’s a finite amount of water in the world, which normally stays in the system, but if you’re breaking water into hydrogen and oxygen you’re removing it from the system. Which means if it goes on unchecked for long enough we’ll turn the entire planet into a desert. THINK ABOUT IT... !!
Hey! Can’t we use sea water...?
A gallon of tap water packs over 3x’s the energy of gasoline! The electronic water fracturing systems produce an abundant source of usable energy, converting an ordinary car into an economical on demand HHO gas consisting of hydrogen and oxygen.
There is a finite amount of water in the world, but by coming up with new inventions like these we are not draining water completely, but just coming up with an alternative solution which is must in today’s world. Water can be employed as a fuel constituting of hydrogen and oxygen, so when it’s used singly or together it will furnish an inexhaustible source of heat and light, creating something of high intensity which even coal is not capable of.
Yes seawater is used, as hydrogen is separated from it, which finally fuels the car! So more developments like these, where water is used as a fuel needs to occur as the petroleum based fuels are depleting!
I’ve known about and supported this for ages. I even written about this car in my Autopartswarehouse.com Blogs. It’s a very good idea, but there are two problems;
1. Would the method create enough energy to power a car?
2. How much would one of these new cars cost?
The whole thing needs to be considered in terms of economy as well as environmental means. Think of the cost.
Hydrogen and oxygen are rocket fuels. Since the fuel and emission being used here is water, i dont think energy production will be a problem in the near future.
Cost might be the deciding factor however. I’m not certain how the MEA system works and how frequently it must be repaired. I guess only time will tell.
This news is great though it’s not that new anymore. This could really be an alternative for depleting auto resources.
Ha Ha..yeah! It’s not really news anymore but it is heartening to see idea’s like this one surfacing and more and more companies pushing the alternative energy sources envelope forward.
Perhaps one day we could do far better without petroleum.
