Seattle is in the news again for its elegantly eco-friendly luxury residences. Designed by local architects, the 5th and Madison condo tower is built with expansive, operable windows that showers the rooms in natural light and provide ventilation which reduces energy costs. Followed by juliet balconies with tilt and turn windows, hardwood floors, energy efficient air conditioning system, gas fired heating, and gas fired hot water system and low flow showerheads make bathing pleasurable. In the kitchen, the refrigerator-filtered water and ice make it easy to break the plastic water bottle habit. Also, the lush landscaped half acre with a small stream is irrigated with rainwater is collected from the roof runoff and stored in the underground tanks.

Another feature is that they provide a lovely natural setting at dawn and a private refuge at dusk which strikes a perfect balance for the residents. The builders are also seeking the LEED program, which rates buildings on their sustainable or “green” features and takes into account factors like the use of natural and recycled products, wood harvested from well managed forests and the use of non-toxic paints, adhesive etc.
The condo is bound to appeal the urbanites who have a penchant for in-city living as the location of the project is in the middle of the Central Business District with only a few other residential buildings in the area. However the tower is estimated to be 20% more energy efficient than industry standards and 75% of the construction waste was recycled, making the stay here not just good for your family but also great for the environment.

Wow, this kinda luxurious eco den will also appeal to all those who don’t pay much attention to environment’s needs. Wonder if such an eco-tower rises up in Mumbai skyline, how much will it cost to live there!
I personally think this sort of thing will only come in town side, if at all it does come in Mumbai! In that case celebs, politicians, businessmen are going to be the occupants and will have another reason to blab about how eco conscious they are, when in reality i doubt if these guys even care about the environment. I am happy that Bombay is improving as most of the builders now-a-days provide solar water heaters, cookers, ovens in the house, which is also a step worth commending.
Eco-stylish condo is a trend for many urban people nowadays. This trend is healthy development towards green life style.
