Earlier we told you about a simple backpack that can purify water using the sun’s heat and radiations. Here is a better solution to that problem.
Italian designers have developed this amazing water bottle known as the Solar Bottle, in an effort to reduce the number of deaths in developing countries resulting for contaminated drinking water. The bottle makes use of simple solar technology to purify drinking water and prevent water-borne diseases like diarrhea, cholera, typhoid fever, and many other life-threatening diseases.
The bottle makes use of the SODIS (Solar Water Disinfection) process to allow UV-A radiation and increased temperature to destroy pathogenic microorganisms in drinking water.
This slim pet bottle can hold 4-liters of water and comes with a specially crafted handle to ease carrying. UV-A exposure and thermal gain are maximized with a bi-color blown injection molding that creates both a transparent side and a dark, heat absorbing side. This heat absorbing side raises the temperature of water inside the bottle and hence effectively disinfects it. This bottle also comes with iconic graphics that can guide the user with the best way to use this bottle.

whilw this bottle is beautiful its also expensive the solution for the poor is offered by the people who pioneered the method http://www.rcsi.ie/sodis/ If you google the clinical control trials they were done in Africa among the Maasai by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and ICROSS. The method as not discovered recently but used by the Ancient egyptians, check also www.icross.ie
the Italian bottle is a work of art however the bottle that is most likely to be affordable is this one http://www.icross.ie/images/uploads/sodis.jpg
