‘If you do not sow in the spring you will not reap in the autumn’. This is what comes to my mind whenever I read about anything that relates to degrading conditions of our environment, let it be vulnerable fossil fuels, energy crisis, or the most horrible result because of our negligence towards earth, that has created a monster to snatch breath out of our lungs.
Yes, here I mean global warming due to increase in greenhouse gases, which has worried the Environmental Scientists who have predicted dire consequences due to extremes of over exploitation and Unawareness in us about our planet.
What researchers are scared of is that the natural sinks of CO2 - the oceans, soils, and forests - will lose much of their capacity to absorb CO2 by 2030. World has already warmed about 0.6ºC on average, and there is at least 0.5ºC of warming ahead of us due to the current concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
Now, this problem seems no less than a nuclear war threatening life in every habitat possible.
In order to prevent about 1ºC of further warming, scientists say that we should keep the total greenhouse gas concentration, expressed in CO2 equivalents, below 450 ppm.
With these projections in mind, the world must reduce its total per capita greenhouse gas emissions to 0.33 tons of CO2 equivalents per person.
If you won’t care for nature, why should we expect it to be kind to us.
What we all need is awareness, which is not limited to a few scientists. Even the common person should know that it’s not possible to exploit nature free of coast. On the extreme lies life worse than hell with unbearable heat and diseases incurable as a punishment for creating unbalance in nature.
Let’s sacrifice some of our egoistic desires for the wellbeing of all life. We should understand are not the masters of earth, but part of it.
